Much love and thankfulness

The past five weeks have been revolving around the crowdfunding for my big passion project, the bilingual collection of poetry ‘To Be // Te Zijn’.

The cover of the book! Designed by Necodeco.

Now the crowdfunding has come to an end, and I must confess it is a relief of sorts. Between the crowdfunding campaign, all the writing and translation work, and weekends filled with weddings and anniversaries, there wasn’t much time for breaks. September has been one crazy month!

An unsuccessful crowdfunding campaign does not equal a failure; throughout it, I have had many a delightful conversation about my project, and received lots and lots of positive reactions and encouragement. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – because I simply cannot say it often enough: I am incredibly grateful for all the support I have received throughout this exciting period.

Plan B

And now, it is time for Plan B, because I am not simply going to give up on my dream of publishing this book. On the contrary!

During the next few weeks, I will be working hard to make sure I can release my book on November 9, 2019 – at a release party, as promised in my campaign.

Keep an eye out for more news on this website and on my social media channels. Many thanks again for your support, and I hope to see you at the release party!

Stranger (To Be Free)

Over the next few weeks, I will share one poem each time from each of the four volumes in my upcoming collection of poetry ‘To Be // Te Zijn’, to give you a preview of it.

Today’s poem is from the volume ‘To Be Free // Vrij te Zijn’, in which the journey takes you from imprisonment to escape and freedom.

This poem is about the freedom to be yourself, and being accepted as such by others. The inspiration for this poem came from a character in one of my favourite movies.

What (or whom) does this poem remind you of?

To Be: The Four Volumes

The title of the collection of poems has been revealed, and today I am adding the titles of the four volumes (or ‘chapters’)!

In each of these four volumes, you – the reader – will be taken on an emotional journey.

  • To Be Free: from imprisonment to freedom.
  • To Be Strong: from weakness to strength.
  • To Be Loved: from lacking love to giving and receiving it.
  • To Be Alive: a journey through life itself.

This collection of poems is meant to be relatable and offer comfort. I myself love to read books in which I can recognise something of myself and in which I can lose myself completely – take a break from the real world. What is your favourite thing about books?

Title reveal!

I am spending these summery weeks working hard on my collection of poems. Translating, design, and everything else that publishing a book involves.

I am proud to hereby share the title with you:

Indeed: it will be a bilingual collection. I have wanted to make this for years – I think it is wonderful to be able to address and appeal to people in two languages – and on top of that, it is something unique, which I really love!

Would you like to know more about this special project? Stay tuned; I will share more bits and pieces with you over the next few weeks.

Welcome to IntraTYPical!

Hello and welcome to IntraTYPical’s new and improved website!

My name is Marise Hurkmans, owner of IntraTYPical – nice to meet you. For as long as I can remember I have been attracted to two career paths: science and writing. While at first science took the upper hand, it has become clear that my heart is in writing.

I started IntraTYPical in 2018, ready to offer my writing, editing and translating skills to the world. Very soon I attracted a number of partners and happy customers. After about one year, I registered IntraTYPical BOOKS, to expand on my services and further work on achieving my long-time goals and dreams, including publishing my own collections of poetry (under the pen name Maria M. Crouch).

Curious what IntraTYPical can do for you? Feel free to look around or send us a message!
